Red Rose: The rose is used here as a metaphor for romantic love. We all want that elusive red rose, that high, intensity and intimacy of romantic love. My experience has often been that what seems like a ‘red rose’ when we fall physically in love is in fact a mirage “it’s just another red rose”. Not true love, just new love. “When you finally wake, I’m just a friend” reflects on the amount of times the heat of the night doesn’t survive the light of day. “Two hearts wanting more, petals all over the floor”.
