about
Lullaby. A song about the sweet nothings we want a lover to say to us. Just like a child wants a lullaby to ward off the monsters at night and lull them to sleep, as adults we still want someone outside of us to comfort us. We believe that if someone loves us they will be able to do this. But this is not always the case. The metaphors writing a melody, casting in glass, drawing in lines speak to our craving for intimacy. Wanting to be seen by another. But there is an ominous tone to this song. A knowing that wanting to be comforted by another may not be possible. “We lie like the rest” has a double meaning. “Black love bites” and the flowing of “lovers blood” speaks to the existential loneliness of being human even if someone is seeking to know and comfort us. “Do you know me?”.
